Grace
Meet the Artist
Grace loves the challenge of finding the balance between form and function to create a beautiful object, fit for purpose. Through texture and mark-making; slips, and glazes, she creates complex surfaces that want to be touched, in the hope of bringing sensual pleasure to everyday moments in the lives of the people who use her pots. Materials and firing processes are key to Grace's work as she looks to find a balance between earthy strength and fragility in her pottery. Grace discovered ceramics 7 years ago, whilst living in Barcelona, where she began an apprenticeship with traditional earthenware potter Mario Leal. She never looked back and continued to study pottery in Granada (Andalucía) and Tuscany before returning to her hometown of London to pursue a full time career in ceramics. Grace works predominantly on the potters wheel to form her pots, using stoneware clays, wild clay slips and her own glazes formulated from non toxic materials. As well as making her own pots to sell, Grace is also a dedicated ceramics teacher, designing and delivering courses at a number of London studios.
